This site collects as little as it can get away with, and none of it is sold or shared.
If you read the journal
No accounts, no tracking scripts, no advertising cookies, no analytics from third parties. The server keeps an ordinary web log (IP address, page, time) so it can stay online, and it counts how many times a note was opened. That's all.
If you join The Slow Letter
Your email address is stored on the site's own database (a single file on the machine that hosts this site) and is used for one thing: sending you the letter and telling you when a new note is published. New subscribers get a confirmation email before anything else is sent, so nobody is added by accident.
Delivery is handled by an email provider, which necessarily sees your address in order to deliver the message. Every letter has a one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom, and the unsubscribe is immediate — your address is marked as left and nothing further is sent. You can also reply to any letter and ask to be removed by hand.
If you want your data gone
Reply to any letter, or write to [email protected], and the record is deleted. No questions, no retention policy theatre.
